Harris & Boyd's test for partitioning the reference values.

چکیده
To decide upon the need for partitioning, Students t test or Mann-Whitney^ U test are usually applied to compare the reference samples under study. But these tests may be too sensitive for this purpose: if the sizes of the two subgroups compared are large enough, small differences between subgroups without clinical importance may become statistically significant. For this reason, Harris & Boyd developed a special statistical test in order to find out the need for partitioning under a diagnostic point of view (2—3).

Objective criteria for partitioning Gaussian-distributed reference values into subgroups.
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to develop new and useful criteria for partitioning reference values into subgroups applicable to gaussian distributions and to distributions that can be transformed to gaussian distributions. METHODS The proposed criteria relate to percentages of the subgroups outside each of the reference limits of the combined distribution. Critical values suggested as ...
متن کاملAre the common reference intervals truly common? Case studies on stratifying biochemical reference data by countries using two partitioning methods.
The Harris-Boyd method, recommended for partitioning biochemical reference data into subgroups by the NCCLS, and a recently proposed new method for partitioning were compared in three case studies concerning stratification by countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden) of reference data collected in the Nordic Reference Interval Project (NORIP) for the enzymes alkaline phosphatase (ALP), c...
متن کاملBioequivalence Studies of Two Formulations of Baclofen Tablet in Healthy Volunteers
The relative bioavailability of the test (generic) product 2 × 25 mg baclofen tablets, with respect to the reference product, Lioresal® 2 × 25 mg tablets (baclofen; Squibb) was determined in a single-blind, single dose, randomised, crossover study. The mean values for the variable Cmax were 737.6 ng/ml for the reference and 739.5 ng/ml for the test product. The mean values for the variable AUC ...

متن کاملResponse Surface Methodology for the Evaluation of Lysozyme Partitioning in Poly (Vinyl Pyrrolidone) and Potassium Phosphate Aqueous Two-Phase System
The partitioning of lysozyme and extraction yield in an aqueous two-phase system containing Poly Vinyl Pyrrolidone (PVP) K25 and potassium phosphate were investigated as a function of weight percent of salt and PVP in the feed, temperature, and pH. To investigate partitioning behavior, the central composite design was considered using a quadratic model. According to the results of the model...
